“becoming dragonfish to survive” is a workshop in which participants create notebooks of care and of their own intimate cosmologies. At the end of the workshop, these can be given or send as gifts to a loved one – such as a friend or partner – who is currently going through a difficult time.
The workshop is inspired by the striking sketchbook “A Female Landscape”, which the artist Mildred Thompson created in 1977 for the poet and activist Audre Lorde after Lorde was first diagnosed with cancer. Both women were black American lesbian artists living in Germany (Lorde famously so).
