Opening hours and contact details of the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB)
Together, our two locations are Berlin's best-attended public cultural and educational institution. We know that the division into the two houses is inconvenient and uncomfortable for you. Therefore, we are planning and working on merging the library into one location. Until then, you can reach us as follows:

The Berliner Stadtbibliothek in Berlin-Mitte has specialist natural sciences, medicine and economics collections, for example, and also houses the local government studies and law collections. The ZLB's Berlin and historic collections have their own dedicated reading room and offer extensive collections of materials that focus on Berlin's past and present.

At the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek in Kreuzberg, you will find specialist collections related to the humanities and the fine arts, fiction, films, music and the "Artothek". It is also home to the children and young adults’ library with its learning centre.
Questions regarding opening and service hours
Staff members are available for advisory services, registration, and lending during these hours.
Services unavailable during self-service hours:

Library cards: Issuing or renewing library cards.

Support: Personal consultation, technical assistance, reporting lost items (media), and lost and found inquiries.

Same-day requests: Retrieving items from the closed stacks (archives) on the same day.

Interlibrary loans: Collection and on-site consultation of interlibrary loans.

Printing/Copying: Topping up printing or copying credit.

Special collections: Borrowing items from the Artotheque, the "Library of Things," and media not suitable for self-checkout.

Facility use: Use of the Media Lab (Medienwerkstatt) and the piano room.

KiJuBi (Children’s and Youth Library): Borrowing board games, specific console games (Nintendo DS/3DS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5), and Ozobots.

KiJuBi tech: Use of PCs and gaming stations.
