The Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB) offers more than books: With numerous events, outreach, and educational programs, it creates access to information, culture, and community – freely accessible to everyone in Berlin. Especially in times of social tension and uncertainty, our mission as a place of encounter and knowledge transfer is more important than ever.

Current budget cuts pose major challenges for the ZLB. In the coming year, we expect to have 2.2 million euros less at our disposal, which has serious consequences for library operations: Less staff, restricted service, and fewer media and event offerings mean less culture and education for Berlin.

    Projects of our Children's and Youth Library Creating Safe Learning Spaces

    Not every child has their own desk and a place to study. The ZLB offers children and young people space and support for their homework time. You can support the learning program of our Children's and Youth Library with as little as €10.

    With a donation of €50, you enable the Presentation Assistance Service offered by our Children's and Youth Library (KiJuBi). Through this service, we offer teenagers the opportunity to receive professional support with research and presentation design.

    Projects of the library as a Shared Space Fostering Cohesion

    We bring people of all ages and diverse backgrounds together for conversation. With €25, you help us to finance a neighborhood meeting or an exchange group. The ZLB thus becomes a central and important place for social encounter.
