Consultations

Our open consultation hours at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek (American Memorial Library) provide tailored options for consultation on particular topics. We offer regular assistance at set times to help you with literature research, exam preparation, or loaning and downloading e-books.

School students (grade 10 and over), trainees, university students

Aim: To introduce the ZLB and its services. Participants are also given an overview of Berlin’s public libraries. They will become familiar with our library cataloguesand receive initial help and guidance with research. A range of information sources and simple search strategies are also discussed and then put into practice. The conventional library methods will of course also be covered. 

Activities: Introductory talktour through the library facilitiesgroup work and presentation of results: getting to know search tools and other sourceslibrary quiz

Aim: You will be introduced to the tasks of the public libraries in Berlinand get to know the ZLB in person. You will be taught ways to conduct research in our library catalogueour databases and digital resourcesand will be shown various search strategies. You will also learn everything you need to know about loaning processesrequestsand the specialised areas of our library. 

You will then be given an opportunity to spend the rest of the time doing your own research.

Aim: The aim of this course is to effectively teach more efficient methods of working. Participants learn how to find search termsuse these on various platformsand assess information. They then reflect on their own search behaviour. Over the long termparticipants are given a guide that they can refer to when exploring any topic or issue.
