You can renew your library card in person at the ZLB or at any of the Verbund der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken Berlin (VÖBB) libraries. You must present some form of proof of address and, if applicable, proof that you are entitled to concessions.

You can renew your library card online at www.voebb.de / My Account (if you have provided an email address for the account). Please present some form of proof of address when you next visit the library to verify the account.

No, that is unfortunately not possible.

Please see your library account for an overview of your orders, reserved items, the media you have borrowed and the return dates; you can also renew items there, if necessary.

You can collect pre-ordered media from the collection area. You will find the pre-ordered media under your collection code. You can find this code online in your library account.

Please use the self-service machines in the collection area to borrow pre-ordered media. Pre-ordered items from the Children and Youth Library (KiJuBi) can be found in the central collection area of the American Memorial Library (AGB). If you do not want to borrow an item you have pre-ordered, simply tell our staff when you visit the library.

You can usually collect media currently in the repository within 30 minutes. You can collect orders from the external repository Mondays to Fridays from 15:00 onwards at the ZLB branch you requested. Please wait until you have received the message that your items are ready for collection. The waiting time for reserved items depends on the reasons why they are currently not available. If the item status is "on loan", you can see the due date for its return when you enter your order. On the basis of these details, you can calculate roughly when the item will be available, provided no other reservations are shown. However, it may take longer or less time if the item is returned late or early. If the loan status is "not on shelf", the date when the item will be available again cannot be calculated exactly.

Yes, via Wi-Fi hotspots (wireless local area network hotspots). Access is free of charge and unrestricted.

Yes, the computers may be used by anyone with a valid library card aged fourteen and over. Each individual session per computer is limited to one hour. Central printing is possible from the computer workstations.

A screen reader and a computer with the software "Zoomtext", which has been developed especially for people with visual impairments, are available at both branches.

The programme makes it possible to individually adjust the computer screen in order to adapt it to various visual impairments. There is also a voice recognition programme.

Users of the computers for the visually impaired can search the catalogue and the database, as well as research online. The computers may be used by anyone with a valid library card aged fourteen and over. Each individual session per computer is limited to two hours.

Anything lost and found in the ZLB is kept for six months until it is collected.

• The piano room can be booked for 55 minutes per person per week.
• The piano room can be found in the America Memorial Library in the audio area.

Yes, a valid VÖBB library card is required to make a booking.

The key can be obtained from the information desk, where your library card will be kept until its return.

If you do not turn up, the reservation is cancelled after ten minutes. You are not entitled to a replacement booking.
