The Central and Regional Library Berlin (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin - ZLB)

As the regional library for the capital of Berlin, our library is a metropolitan centre of communication and information transfer.

At our sites in Berlin-Mitte (Berlin City Library), Berlin-Kreuzberg (America Memorial Library), and Berlin-Charlottenburg/Wilmersdorf (Library of the Berlin Senate, integrated since 1st January 2005) we hold altogether more than 3.3 million electronic and printed media. Our customers may use PC and internet work stations as well as research terminals.

We have always placed great value on providing a professional customer service and free access to all kinds of information. As a universal library we offer academic subject collections and scientific databases as well as travel literature, books on leisure activities, and fiction; in addition, we provide multimedia access suitable for children and young adults.

You may find current, up-to-date information at your finger tips; surf the internet, or search our databases, visit our historical collections, or simply borrow your favorite novel. In 2007, our library welcomed 1.47 million visitors and registered more than 4.32 million loans - which makes us one of the most popular cultural institutions in the capital of Berlin.
