Cultural Events at the Library

The Central and Regional Library Berlin stages numerous small and large exhibitions all year round. Our German website as well as our monthly Events and Exhibitions Flyer provide you with up-to-date information on current exhibitions and details of regular vernissages. You can choose to pick up the flyer at the America Memorial Library, at the Berlin City Library, or at the Library of the Berlin Senate.

The exhibitions are accessible during library opening hours. For access to the exhibitions at the Historical Collections Department or at the Centre for Berlin Studies please check the special opening hours of the relevant department. Entry to all exhibitions is free.

Readings, Concerts, Talks, and More

The Public Relations Department of the Central and Regional Library Berlin organizes cultural events on a monthly basis. Current information on any events held can be obtained from our German website or from our monthly printed flyer on events and exhibitions available at any of our sites. Entry to the events is free, unless otherwise indicated.

Courses Offered at the Central and Regional Library Berlin (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin)

Our courses enable you to improve your knowledge on software programmes, data bases, library catalogues, and the use of the internet. The courses include, among others, Internet for Beginners, Internet for the Advanced, Internet for Senior Citizens, the OPAC catalogue (i.e. searching the electronic library catalogue), Courses for the Partially Sighted. In addition, the library offers free access to a considerable number of Internet and PC-work stations.

Cooperations

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer signing the French-German Treaty of Friendship on 22.01.1963, the two major libraries of the capitals of Berlin (ZLB) and Paris (Bpi) have stipulated a cooperative agreement within a framework of partnership. The intensive exchange of professional information enables the realization of international projects, for instance, in the area of information retrieval for library users:

On 4th October 2004 a cooperative agreement was signed between the Central and Regional Library Berlin and the All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature (founder M. I. Rudomino) in Moscow. The agreement emphasizes the cooperation of partnership between the two institutions in areas such as common research projects, projects involving new information technologies, publishing activities, mutual exhibitions, and study tours.
